Henry Edward Millen

Henry Edward Millen, 84, died February 6.

Born March 28, 1923 in Jasper County, to Reuben Lee and Martha Mabel Millen, he moved to Jacksonville in 1955 from North Carolina. He served in the Marines as a radio man during World War II in the South Pacific and was presented the Purple Heart.

He retired after 40 years from Western Electric as a telecommunication installer. He was a member and Deacon of First Baptist Church, Jacksonville Beach, an avid hunter, fisherman, loved football and was a good cook in his later years.

Family members include his wife of 56 years, Evelyn; son Harold Edward Millen of Atlantic Beach, Fla.; daughter, Sandra Bertoglio of Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.; sister, Helen Stone, and her husband, Marion of Monticello; grandchildren, Michelle Dozier, Austin and Allen Millen; his companion and shadow, Max the dog.

His parents, son, Paul Edward Dozier; brothers, Homer, Ronnie and Vernon Millen, preceded him in death.

Special appreciation was expressed to his caregivers, Maria Belcik, Chris Burgos and Monika Siposova.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, Feb. 16, at 2 p.m. at the chapel of Jordan Funeral Home, with burial in West View Cemetery. Rev. Dewey Fisher will officiate.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to 6th Marine Division Association, c/o Rev. Frank Mack, 101 South 6th St., PO Box 567 Keithsburg, IL 61442.
