‘Cane Boys Region Championship on Hold

The Monticello ‘Canes tennis team could have wrapped up the region championship last week if the weather had cooperated. With only one win to clinch it, the match with Putnam County was rained out.

According to Head Tennis Coach Paul Stokes, it has not been rescheduled. and he isn’t sure if the team will have to make up this match.

The match scheduled with Henry County for last Thursday, was also rained out and has been rescheduled after Spring Break for next Wednesday, April 15. The game is scheduled at home, so fans will still be able to witness the team win a region championship.

In the event of a loss the match with Putnam might have to be rescheduled, which seems unlikely since the team already shut Henry out earlier in the season.
Since the Lamar match scheduled for last Thursday (also rained out) was not a region match it will not be rescheduled.

Coach Stokes also said, “If the boys and the girls win against Henry the boys will be region champs and host the first round of the playoffs on Friday, April 24, and the girls would finish third and have to play on the road April 24.
