Happy Easter

Several churches and individuals had special Easter celebrations last weekend, and virtually every church has special plans for Easter Sunday, this week, on April 12.

In the photo above, about 40 children turned out for a fun day at Prospect United Methodist Church Saturday. They enjoyed the moonwalk, decorating eggs, music, games, the interactive Easter lesson, and the hot dog supper. Also, children had fun at a residence on Hwy. 11 north where they had an Easter egg hunt, cookout and fun day. One little girl tried to size up the giant Easter egg, and another wasn’t sure whether to collect eggs or just play with them.

Monticello First United Methodist Church has Holy Week services at noon each day this week. Students in Jasper County public schools and Piedmont Academy, as well as many colleges around have been on spring break this week.

Jasper County observes Good Friday as one of its annual holidays, so all county offices will be closed. Val’s Red Clay Cafe has announced it will be closed for Easter weekend, closing tomorrow, April 10 through Monday, April 13. The Monticello News office will be closed for Good Friday also.
