‘Canes Are in the Hunt
The baseball ‘Canes picked up two region wins last Friday when they played a double header versus S.W. Macon and defeated them 13-1 in a five inning game and 15-0 in a three inning second game, both games shortened because of the mercy rule. Ethan Huff picked up the first win and Colby Bird won the second to extend his record to 5-0.
The two wins improved the ‘Canes region record to 5-1 and placed them in second place behind Howard.
As region play heats up the ‘Canes bats have come alive at the right time. They have scored 40 runs in their last three games while holding their opponents to three.

The team was scheduled to play Greene County Tuesday and Glascock (non-region) Wednesday, both games too late to report in this edition.
Tomorrow, April 17, at 5 p.m., the team takes on Howard at home in the biggest game of the season so far, and could very well determine the region championship.
The team continues with region play next Tuesday with possibly a double header at home versus N.E. Macon, and another game at home next Wednesday versus Henry County.
Head Baseball Coach Chris Jenkins said he hopes the fans will come out to support the team in these big games.
