B-team Baseball Cougars Drop Three
The Piedmont Academy B-team baseball squad had a tough three-game stretch in recent days.
While the B-team Cougars were involved in three close contests, they were unable to emerge victorious in any of them. Piedmont fell to John Milledge 4-1, Brentwood 7-3 and to Pinecrest 6-4.
“We have to play better defense and get timely hitting,” coach Dan Funt said.
In the game against John Milledge, Matt Sessions pitched all seven innings allowing just one earned run while striking out three batters. Sessions was also 2-for-3 at the plate.
Taylor Fields also was 2-for-3 offensively while Daniel Jackson was 1-for-2 and Matt Wilson was 1-for-3.
In the setback to Brentwood, Cole Hamilton took the loss, his first of the spring. Jakey Dunagan worked two innings in relief.
At the plate, Piedmont was led by Fields and Hamilton, who drew three walks.
In Monday’s game against Pinecrest, Fields, Wilson and Dalton Perkins each scored a run. Perkins drove in a run while Seth Harvey was 1-for-1 at the plate.
Dunagan pitched the first three innings before giving way to Blake Hammock. Dunagan had two strikeouts while Hammock recorded three.
The B-team will travel to Windsor today, April 23.
