Louella Smith

Funeral services for Louella Smith, who died May 9, were held Saturday, May 16, at Springfield Baptist Church in Monticello. Rev. Jimmy Horton officiated.

Mrs. Smith was born May 2, 1942 in Monticello to the late John Wesley Smith and Sarah Mae Smith Campbell. She attended Jasper County Training School. A woman of strength and character, many in the family considered her the hardest working woman in the world. To her nieces and nephews she was the best aunt in the world. To many others she was one of the funniest, loving and caring people alive. She was great at cooking, entertaining, babysitting and a host of other things.

Ms. Smith was preceded in death by her brother, Charles Smith.

Survivors include her sons, Lester Smith of Atlanta and Antonio Smith; grandchidren, Dartavious, Anthony, Antonio, LeDarius, Jonathan, Martavious, Shantriva, Antonia, Trinadja, Monzette, Cederica and Sharmecia; great-grandchildren, Dartavious, Jr., Montavious, Day’Lamrine, Dequashaun, Kamiyah, Jordan, Jadale and Joshua; sisters, Hattie Smith of Decatur, Annie Langford of Locust Grove, Victoria Glawson of Monticello, Sara Smith and Wylene Smith, both of Decatur; brothers, John Wesley Smith of Decatur, Franklin Smith of Covington; Robert Smith of Monticello, Ralph Smith of Oxford, Kenneth Smith of Savannah, James Smith of Monticello, and Scotty Smith of Savannah, and a number of other relatives and friends.

Smith & Sons Funeral Home was in charge.
