Johnnie William Wilson, Sr
Johnnie William Wilson, Sr., 76, of Shady Dale, died Saturday, May 16, at Abbey Hospice in Social Circle.
Mr. Wilson was born in Pitts, Ga. to the late Marcus Dean Wilson and Maggie Mae Holcombe Wilson. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Wilson was an iron worker for the Northwest Iron Company for a number of years.
He lived in Covington before moving to Shady Dale in 1990. He was a member of the Gospel Mission Church in Covington.
A son and daughter, Johnnie, Jr. and Janet M. Wilson; three brothers and one sister, preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife, Doris Whitley Wilson of Shady Dale; children and spouses, Michael G., Sr. and Shirley Wilson of Mansfield, Deborah A. and Bobby Spriggs, Phillip A. and Jodie Wilson, and Nancy J. and Bobby Harper, all of Shady Dale, and Markus Wilson of Covington.
Also, grandchildren, Michelle Griffin, Michael G. Wilson, Jr., David S. Wilson, Kimberly Dyle, Tasha Wilson, Heather Ley, Mark Spriggs, Randall Harper, Stephene Teal, Tiffany McCullough, Joshua Harper, Nikki Wilson, Andy Wilson, Billy New, Trent New, and Destiny New; great grandchildren, Nicholas Garza, Kaitlen Griffin, Eva Teal, Kaleb Teal, Kami Harper, Jacob Ley, Norman Wilson, and David Dyle; and brother and sisters, D.J. Wilson of Rockmart, Ruth Wilson of Cedartown and Lucille Hartley of Tampa, Fla.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, May 19, at the Gospel Mission Church in Covington. Interment was held at the Hillcrest Cemetery in East Point. Pastor Roger W. Whitley officiated.
Pallbearers were Josh Harper, Randall Harper, James Teal, Kevin McCullough, Scott Wilson, and Gordon Wilson.

Jordan Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
