BIG WEEKEND COMING UP

Memorial Day traditionally is the unofficial kick-off to summer, and so lots of people will likely be in Jasper County to visit Jackson Lake on this weekend. In addition, soem of those people will visit the Market Fesetival on the Square which enters its third week with a wide selection of local goodies available for sale.

The real purpose of Memorial Day, which is Monday, is to remember those who lost their lives in battle for our freedom.

This holiday weekend will also signify a turning point in the lives of many Jasper County youth as Jasper County High School and Piedmont Academy both hold commencement exercises on Saturday. Piedmont’s commencement is scheduled for 10 a.m., and Jasper County’s is scheduled for 8 p.m.

No matter what you observe, remember to be careful, and know that “Click It or Ticket” seat belt enforcement is under way. And the need to be careful is even greater than on the average day.
