Recycling Opportunity Is Here Today, Gone Tomorrow

The Jasper County Extension office, as a part of Georgia 4-H, is partnering with Cartridges for Kids (CFK) to raise funds for a new cabin at Rock Eagle 4-H Center.

During state 4-H council registration on Friday, June 19, counties will deliver contributions of 10 different ideas for recycling by CFK. CFK will pay for the recyclable items and all funds raised during council will be added to the senior 4-H’ers contributions to the new cabin.

Additionally, Iron Clover Points will be awarded for all items, the Extension announcement said.

So, everyone who can is asked to contribute today or tomorrow. Take the items to the Extension office in the basement of the Monticello Post Office on East Washington Street by 4 p.m. Friday.

Items can be in nonworking order. They include used inkjet and laserjet cartridges, dvd movies, pda’s and palm pilots, video games and video game consoles, cell phones, laptops, gps systems, digital cameras and ipods.

Every item counts. Some items recycle for 10 cents, while others go for as much as $40.
