Everyone Is Asked to Share ‘Ben Stories’

The Monticello News would like to compile, and possibly publish, a collection of “Ben Stories.”

Dr. Robert Whitmire, at Ben Tillman’s funeral service Tuesday told one or two stories and mentioned that we could stay all day and night telling “Ben stories.” We all have them.

Ben’s sudden death rocked this community, as was evidenced by the huge line at the funeral home Monday night and the overflow crowd at the church. It is also apparent as each person you meet shares his or her sadness, and tries to heal by telling a “Ben story.”

So, PLEASE send in your Ben stories. You can e-mail them through this website, or to editor@themonticellonews.com. Or mail them to P.O. Box 30, Monticello, GA 31064. And, if you’re not comfortable writing your words down, call me, Kathy Mudd, or come see me, and tell me your story and I will write it down.

We feel the sharing of these stories will help the family, friends, and entire community to heal.
