Lynwood Ardell Pope
Lynwood Ardell Pope, 70, died Wednesday, July 1, 2009, at Oconee Regional Medical Center in Milledgeville.
Mr. Pope was a lifelong resident of Jasper County. His father was the late Horace Jackson Pope. He was a member of Callie Fuller Baptist Tabernacle. Before retirement, he worked as an electrician for the city of Monticello and retired from Bibb Manufacturing. He was a member of the Jasper Masonic Lodge #50F&AM and the volunteer rescue squad. His hobbies included rock collecting, gardening, writing songs and poems.
Survivors include his wife, Arlene Seales Pope of Monticello; daughters, Penny Lynn Campbell of Covington and Miriam Loretta Pope of Jackson; grandchildren, Anthony Darrell Pope, Myles Campbell, Christopher Pope, Autumn Pope, and Dee Clay; great-grandchild, Keylon Pope; and mother, Mary Agnes Smith Pope of Monticello.
Funeral services are planned for Friday, July 3, at 3 p.m. at New Hope United Methodist Church, with burial in New Hope United Methodist Church cemetery. Pastor Gary Darnell and Rev. Clyde Carter will officiate.
The family will receive friends Friday, July 3, from 1-3 p.m. at Jordan Funeral Home.
The family suggests donations to the Callie Fuller Baptist Tabernacle, PO Box 536, Monticello, GA 31064 or New Hope United Methodist Church, c/o Betty Tuggle, 833 McElheney Crossroads, Monticello, GA 31064 in lieu of flowers.
Jordan Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
