Missing Youth Found, Men Charged
Three male suspects have been arrested in connection with the disappearance of a 14 year old female.
Desmond Akeem Battle, 18, Raymond Levern Carter, 34, and Antonio Ashton Juhan, 17, have all been charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor in connection with the case. Mr. Battle has also been charged with statutory rape.
The Monticello Police Department (MPD) was contacted early Saturday morning by the missing child’s mother. After following up on several leads officers with the MPD learned from a friend of the missing child that she had seen her running across a field. Shortly thereafter they found the child hiding in the woods.

During an interview with the child and her mother the officers were informed she had left home by the back door after receiving a text message to walk up the road, where she was picked up.
Later on she was dropped off at Midway Church where she climbed in through a window and spent the night.
The child said she didn’t know the name of her assailant, but did know the number from which he would text her, which led to the arrests listed above.
Other arrests reported by the MPD from June 30 to July 7 include:
Shirley Wise Benton, 49, Monticello—disorderly conduct.
Phillip Wayne Gude, 48, Shady Dale—hold for warrant in Lawrenceville.
Jerome Stokes, 37, Monticello—open container and driving while license suspended or revoked and probation violation.
Ronnie Eugene Goolsby, 44, Monticello—obstruction or hindering a law enforcement officer, disorderly conduct and parole violation.
Also, during this period officers with the MPD responded to 98 calls for service including 29 escort or convoy, 13 stopping suspicious person/vehicle, and 11 subject needs officer.
During this same period the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) reported the following arrests:
Charles Scot West, 31, Griffin—probation violation.
Raymond Henri Nunn, 27, Marietta—probation violation.
James Allen Sudduth, 35, Douglasville—Jasper County Magistrate Court Bench warrant.
Manuel Luga Gonzalez, 35, Shady Dale—driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, speeding, no proof of insurance and driving while unlicensed.
Cathy Jane Clack, 56, Winder—driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, failure to maintain lane and open container.
Calvin Nathaniel McCutchen, 18, Shady Dale—battery.
Quantez Demond Jackson, 22, Monticello—parole violation.
William Darnell Standifer, 44, Monticello—child support.
James William Few, 39, Mansfield—parole violation.
Danny Joe Carroll, 52, Covington—probation violation
Also, during this period deputies with the JCSO responded to 177 calls for service including 21 stopping suspicious person/vehicle, 19 subject needs officer; 13 accident, 11 each alarm and suspicious person and/or vehicle.
In addition, during this same period rangers with the Department of Natural Resources made the following two arrests on Jackson Lake:
Michael Steven Duren, 22, Conyers—operating a vessel without lights and operating a vessel under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
Gaines Martin McDade, 74, Mansfield—operating a vessel under the influence of alcohol or drugs and operating a vessel with improper lights.
Also, John Wayne Trus-kosky, Jr., 43, of Monticello, was arrested June 29 in Greene County and charged with theft by taking.
