Several Plead in Magistrate Court
Jasper County Magistrate Court convened Friday for Criminal Ordinance Violation Arraignments with Judge Bobby Jacobs presiding.
The following individuals pled guilty to charges as indicated and were sentenced as shown below:
•Elizabeth Hall to cruelty to animals—sentenced to one day in jail, 12 months probation and fined $210.
•Billy Joe McDaniel to two counts of violation of noise ordinance—sentenced to 12 months probation and fined $450.
•Leslie Minter to abandonment of animals—sentenced to 12 months probation and fined $210.
•Linda Lou Holland to animal running at large—sentenced to 12 months probation and fined $210.
•John Duvall to violation of solid waste/trash ordinance—sentenced to 12 months probation and fined $300.
•Larisha Ranae Shaw to possession of marijuana less than one ounce—sentenced to 12 months probation, fined $695.00 and ordered to attend Risk Reduction Program within the next 120 days.
•Tina Denise Potter to animal running at large—sentenced to 12 months probation and fined $210.
Also, Kyle Daniel Anderson pled not guilty to marijuana less than one ounce, and Johnny Rogers pled not guilty to theft of utilities. Both cases are scheduled for trial on July 31.
Sabin Bryce Proffitt failed to appear to answer a charge of possession of marijuana less than one ounce, and a Bench Warrant was issued for his arrest.
Julius Funderburke, who was charged with violation of solid waste ordinance and unsafe structures was given 90 days to come into compliance. Also, one other case was continued.
In addition, there was one case on the Criminal Ordinance Violation Trial Calendar with Judge Kenneth G. Jackson, presiding, in which a guilty verdict was found on the charges of violation of the solid waste ordinance and illegal usage of water and electricity against James Sudduth. Mr. Sudduth was sentenced to 12 months probation, 60 hours of community service, fined $750 and restitution of $909.
