Driver Injured

Sharan Edwards of Eatonton was flown by A Rescue Air 1 helicopter to Atlanta Medical Center when she lost control of her 2004 Kia Sorento and wrecked on Hwy. 11 north not far from the Newton County line.

Ms. Edwards was traveling south on Hwy. 11, and when negotiating the curve she lost control, and rotated counterclockwise, turned sideways and left the road, hit an embankment and overturned, then the car flipped three times before coming to rest on the passenger side of the vehicle.

Ms. Edwards was charged with driving under the influence (she refused alcohol test) and failure to maintain lane.
