Two Are Arrested for Alleged Fraud
Kenyatta Standifer and Cedric Stone, both of Monticello, have been arrested by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) on charges of theft by deception and/or false statements for fraudulently obtaining federal funding which is administered through the Georgia Department of Community Affairs Housing Choice Voucher Program.
On August 27 the GBI, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Office of the Inspector General, and local law enforcement officer worked together to arrest 34 individuals in the state.

The fraud involved in these cases totaled $348,267, while the amount in Ms. Standifer’s case is $16,083 and Mr. Stone’s is $12,930. According to the GBI, this is money that could be ordered returned to the program during the prosecution of these individuals.
Both Ms. Standifer and Mr. Stone were released from the Jasper County Jail on August 28 after each made a $10,000 bond.
Also, during the period of August 25 through September 1, the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) reported the following arrests:
Cordell Lashard Peacock, 17, Monticello—statutory rape.
Christopher Derrick Howard, 23, Monticello—contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
David Christopher Hardwick, 43, Monticello—probation violation.
Hollis Chanard Williams, 33, Shady Dale—speeding, obstruction or hindering law enforcement officers, fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer.
Troy Anthony Andrews, 40, Monticello—Jasper County Superior Court failure to appear.
Sheena Rose Davis, 50, Mansfield—driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs and failure to maintain lane.
Lisa Page Harper, 39, Monticello—disorderly conduct.
Laura Jean Ramey, 39, Monticello—disorderly conduct.
Chris Edward Reed, 20, Covington—probation violation.
During this period deputies with the JCSO also responded to 127 calls for service including 17 stopping suspicious person/vehicle, nine subject needs officer, seven alarm.
five burglary, four each accident, theft by taking, juvenile complaint, trouble unknown and argument, three each domestic, music/noise complaint and abandoned vehicle, two each fight and threatening/harassing calls, one each dog disturbance, prowler, hit and run, trespassing, VGCSA, fraud/theft by deceiving and identity fraud/theft.
Also, during this same time the Monticello Police Department (MPD) reported the following arrests:
Horace Julian Evans, 53, Monticello—driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
Alan Bernell Barron, 46, Forsyth—driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, failure to maintain lane and driving with suspended tag.
Ronald Willis Johnson, 51, Boerne, TX.—failure to maintain land and duty of driver to stop at or return to scene of accident.
Roberta Leyva Ruiz, 34, Monticello—driving on a one way street and license violation.
Ryan Keith Freeman, 24, Covington—Jasper County Superior Court failure to appear.
Denver Lee Dunn, Jr., 28, Monticello—parole violation.
During this period officers with the MPD responded to 112 calls for service including 43 stopping suspicious person/vehicle, 17 escort or convoy, nine subject needs officer, six music/noise complaint, four sus icious person and/or vehicle, two each fight, accident, intoxicated driver, intoxicated pedestrian, crowd disbursement, foot patrol, counterfeit and argument, one each alarm prowler report, hit and run, theft by taking and juvenile complaint.
Lastly, during this period the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) reported the arrest of Milton Eugene Crisler, 59, of Fayetteville, and charged him with boating under the influence of alcohol or drugs and operating a boat with improper lights.
