Mattie Ruth Catchings Walton

Mother Mattie Ruth Catchings Walton, 81, died September 12, 2009.

The homegoing celebration will be held Saturday, Sept. 19, at 11 a.m., at The Church of God in Christ Headquarters, 2938 Gray Hwy., Macon.

A memorial will be held Friday Sept. 18, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Ash Street Church of God In Christ, 841 Ash Street, Macon.

Interment will be held at Middle Georgia Memory Gardens located at 3225 Joycliff Road, Macon.

Mother Walton was born in Jasper County, Monticello, to the parentage of Jahazel and Bessie Catchings. She was educated in the Jasper County School system. She later taught in the Jasper County School system. She spent the remainder of her years as a homemaker and a Missionary in the Church of God in Christ.

Survivors include her husband Elder Oliver C. Walton Sr.; children, Oliver C. Walton Jr., Shirley Hamilton and Lydia Coons, all of Macon, Jeremiah Walton of Gray, Constance Battle of Bolingbroke, Miriam Walton of Chicago, Ill., Debra Thomas and Valeria Walker, both of Stone Mountain, and a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her brothers Bartow Catchings, Johnny Eddie Catchings, Grady Catchings and Jahazel Catchings, Jr.
