Middle School Cougar Ladies Win Tuesday

Piedmont Academy’s Middle School softball team held on for a 7-6 win against Gatewood Tuesday.

Matti Smith pitched a complete game for the victory recording seven strikeouts and allowing just four hits. Haley Tyler was 1-for-2 with a walk and two runs scored while Cheyenne Galloway was 1-for-3 with a run and stolen base.

“We came out and played hard with a ton of enthusiasm,” coach Dan Funt said. “We pitched well and played solid defense. Offensively, we keep getting the job done. I’m so proud of the players’ effort in this game.”

Bridgette Phillips, Remington Marsh and Morgan Tillman also contributed offensively.

“We look to keep this momentum moving forward,” Funt said. “I can’t say enough about what a great team effort this was.”
On Monday, the Middle School Lady Cougars fell 12-6 to Mt. de Sales.

“We started off well but could not finish,” Funt said.
Phillips, Smith, Marsh, Tillman, Taylor Swart and JaDa’ Padgett led the offense. Padgett was 1-for-2 with two RBI.
