John Thomas Tillman
John Thomas Tillman, 78, died Thursday, August 26, 2010, at The Retreat Nursing Home after an extended illness.
Mr. Tillman was a lifelong resident of Jasper County. His parents were the late Henry Clay Tillman and Annie Lee Tribble Tillman.
He was a deacon of Hillsboro Baptist Church. Before retirement, Mr. Tillman was a forestry technician for the U.S. Forest Service. He owned and operated a beef cattle and poultry farm. He was a member of the Jasper Masonic Lodge #50 F&AM.
Brothers, Henry Tillman, Willie Paul Tillman, and Troy Tillman, and sister, Mary Sue Turner, all preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Frances LaRuth Gordon Tillman of Hillsboro; children and spouses, Clayton and Paula Tillman of Richmond Hill, Donald and Colleen Tillman of Hillsboro, Ellen and Tom Moore of Birmingham, and Carole and Eric Maynard of Buford; grandchildren, Daphne Lacy, Matt Tillman, Dusty Blackburn, Taylor Craft, Jason Tillman, Rebekah Tillman, Shannon Hageli, Bobbi Hart, and Cameron Maynard; great grandchildren, Chandler Lacy, Stella Lacy, Clay Lacy, Tanner Lacy, Ansley Tillman, Addison Tillman, Eowyn Tillman, T.J. Hageli, Anna Hart, Ava Hart, and Kaidence Blackburn; and sister, Annie Belle Blackwell of Hillsboro.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Aug. 28, 2010, at Hillsboro Baptist Church in Hillsboro. Interment was held at Hebron Cemetery in Monticello. Dr. Kenneth Ellison and Rev. John McDuffie will officiate.
Pallbearers were Matt Tillman, Jason Tillman, Dusty Blackburn, Taylor Craft, Mike Lacy, Jeff Gordon, Bart Jackson, Tony Wild, and Butch Blackwell.
