Morrow Man Drowns In Lake

Ricky Walsh of Morrow drowned in Jakcson Lake last Saturday evening between 7 and 8 p.m., according to a report from the Georgia Department of Natural Resources (DNR).

There was no boating accident involved and the deceased appears to have drowned while swimming in the lake off Harbor Drive in the Alcovy and Rocky Creek area. Limited information has been released. The incident is still under investigation.

Also, the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) has issued a warrant and arrested Michael P. Watson on the felony charge of child molestation. The alleged incident took place in July at the residence of Mr. Watson where he was babysitting a female juvenile under the age of 16. Mr. Watson has been released from the Jasper County Jail on a $40,000 bond.

George Allen Kennedy, Jr.,: 32, Monticello: probation violation.

Robert Allen Miles, Jr., 31, Monticello: probation violation.

Bryant Ray Bozeman, 22, Locust Grove: probation violation.

William Eugene Few,Jr., 36, Covington: criminal trespass.

Roderick Deon Dumas, 23, Monticello: theft by shoplifting, cruelty to children, battery, Jasper County Superior Court
bench warrant and probation violation.

Tawana Alicia Robinson, 37, Conley: financial identity fraud (six counts).

During this same period deputies with the JCSO responded to 73 calls for service including 11 subject needs
officer, nine alarm, four each stopping suspicious person/vehicle and theft by taking, three each escort or convoy and
vandalism of property, two each domestic, accident, mechanical break down, welfare check, discharge firearms,
threatening/harassing phone calls, road hazard, persons refuse to leave and identity fraud/theft, one each dog disturbance,
burglary, assist motorist, speeding auto, livestock on road, intoxicated pedestrian, hit and run, pickup prisoner,
mental person, wanted/stolen, fall, extra patrol, child custody, entering auto, possible drowning, trouble unknown,
music/noise complaint, trespassing, argument and 911 hang up.

The Monticello Police Department (MPD) did not report any arrest during this period, however, during this period
officers with the Monticello Police Department responded to 50 calls for service including 12
stopping suspicious person/vehicle, four subject needs officer, three music/noise complaint, two each mechanical
breakdown, road hazard, alarm, threatening/harassing calls, counterfeit, escort or convoy, trouble unknown, dog
complaint and speeding auto, one each crowd control, theft by taking, vehicle fire, seizure, 911 hang up, accident,
VGCSA, persons refuse to leave, argument, stolen vehicle, juvenile complaint and mental person.
