Triathletes

Eight-year-old Jordan Beam (top left) of Newborn competed and placed second in the Iron Kids Triathlon (Ironkids.com) the weekend of September 12. This was Jordan’s third triathlon and he competed with about 1,300 other youth.
Iron Kids announced that this was the largest triathlon to date. Jordan competed in the eight year old boys division which totaled 144 competitors. Iron Kids Triathlon puts on 12 events in 11 cities across the United States and the top five from each age group are invited to Nationals.
Iron Kids Triathlon is expecting up to 450 athletes to compete at Nationals. Jordan will compete in St. Petersburg, Fla. at North Shore Park in St. Petersburg on October 3 at 2 p.m. with the race schedule as follows (Junior Division Ages 6-8) 50 yard swim, two mile bike and 500 yard run.
Jordan is the son of Shane and Kharmin Beam of Newborn and in Mrs. Tara Pope’s Class at Piedmont Academy. Jordan has a brother Tanner who is six.
