Woodie Brown Wynens

Woodie Brown Wynens, 93, of Hillsboro, died Tuesday, September 21, 2010, at her residence.

Mrs. Wynens was born in Graymont-Summit, Ga., to the late Fred and Evelyn Bunn Brown. Her husband, Garland Augustus Wynens preceded her in death.

Mrs. Wynens and her family lived most of her life in Macon where she and Mr. Wynens were charter members of Riverside Methodist Church. She was a member and President of the Harold Beatty Sunday School Class and was very active in visitation and numerous other ministries of the church. She was a member of the Riverview Community Club.

Since moving to Hillsboro in 2003 to live with her daughter, Jill Dyer, and her husband, David, she has attended Hillsboro Methodist Church and Hillsboro Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her twin brother, Ward Brown and eight brothers and sisters.

Her determination, industriousness, and faith in Christ were an inspiration to all who knew her.

Survivors, in addition to the Dyers, include her son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Carolyn Wynens of Snellville; daughter, Donna Wynens of Martinez; grandson and wife, Blake and Christa Wynens of Savannah; step-grandson, John David Dyer of Atlanta/Palm Springs, CA; and special friend, Loretta Lawrence of Monticello.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, Sept. 23, at 10 a.m. at the Hillsboro United Methodist Church in Hillsboro, with interment in the Hillsboro Baptist Church Cemetery. Revs. Allan Tarr and Clyde Carter will officiate.

Pallbearers are Chris Baden, Mike Caldwell, John David Dyer, Derek Mathis, Johnny Mathis, Ches Rehberg, Blake Wynens, and Preston Wynens. Honorary pallbearers are John Dumas, Phil Hadaway, and James Wynens.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 22, at Jordan Funeral Home.
