2010 Trophy Wall Set for Saturday

Attention hunters: If you’ve killed a buck in Jasper County and it is not on this wall…you have another chance! Deer Capital, LLC, is assembling Jasper County’s second trophy wall on the Square this Saturday, Oct. 2.
Hunters may start checking in at 10 a.m., and organizers expect all to be in place for a photo to be made at 1 p.m. Also during the event which is scheduled to last until 3 p.m., there will be food vendors, seminars, Boone and Crockett scoring available, and lots more to get Deer Season off to a great start.
Fifteen youth hunting/fishing trips will be given away.
The bucks on the wall were all killed in Jasper County, and organizers would like more of Jasper’s trophy bucks to be displayed this year. Any buck killed in Jasper County can be included in the display.
Deer Capital memberships will be available Saturday. Members can receive Deer Capital certified decals, posted signs, and more. Deer Capital Board Members will be on site to answer any questions.

Also available Saturday will be Deer Festival wear—hats and t-shirts—and raffle tickets good for two guns. Only 200 tickets are beign sold and the winner receives a Beretta Shotgun AL 391 Urika Sporting 12 ga. and SAKO A7 Stainless Steel Rifle .30-06 SPRG, ST Synthetic Stock, Stainless Steel Finish. It is a value of $2,200.
The group plans to cmoplete the raffle and select the winner at the Deer Festival on Saturday, Nov. 6. However, if all 200 tickets are sold before then, they will go ahead and draw so the winner can collect his or her prize.
In years’ past, the most successful hunters, based on weight of deer and biggest rack have been recognized at the annual Deer Festival. This year it will work a little differently.
Rather than a hunter getting prize for the biggest rack based on his counting the points, the deer with the highest Boone & Crockett Gross Score by a Deer Festival representative will get the award. And, in addition to the award given at the Deer Festival, another award will be given when the seasons ends. For Boone and Crockett scoring, hunters may contact a member of Deer Capital who will meet with them to score the deer. There is a $10 scoring fee.
The second annual Whitetail Classic Banquet is set for Friday, Jan. 21, and at that time a hunter will get a prize for the biggest buck, based on Boone and Crockett scoring.
