MS Cougars Win Again
The Piedmont Academy Middle School football team took a 36-0 road win against Brentwood last week and now stands at 3-0.
Despite what appeared to be a convincing win, the Middle School Cougars started slowly, according to their coach.
“We fumbled on our first two plays and had to lean on our defense early,” said coach Wes Tanner. “The offense would come around with some good option work by Hunter Knox and physical runs by Payden Cantera and Gaven Edge.
“We really controlled the tempo in the second and third quarters and allowed our younger players a chance to compete the entire fourth quarter.”
Mack Brady scored his first touchdown and also had a fumble recovery that he almost took back for a score as well.
Up next for Piedmont’s Middle School will be Gatewood today, Sept. 30, at home at 6:30 p.m.
“It will be a good, old-fashioned rivalry game,” Tanner said. “The guys are ready to play them. They have been looking forward to it since the season ended last year. They are a fast team that throws a lot of different looks at you offensively so we will have to ready. The kids have prepared well all year and I’m sure this week will be no different.”
