Veteran Player Gets Five Right

Last week’s Monticello News football contest proved to be a tough one, although all the home favorites, except the Monticello Hurricanes, won. The Piedmont Cougars, Georgia, Georgia Tech, and the Falcons all posted wins.

Glen Carter was the only player to pick as many as 13 winners in the contest. He was followed by Ahmad Campbell and Donna Shipp who each had 12 right to have their names added once more to the honor roll.

For his efforts, Mr. Carter picked up a $25 prize from David Leach, pharmacist and owner, of Monticello Drugs on the Square.

Mr. Carter’s win makes him only the second adult in six weeks to win the weekly contest. So, no one should think he or she cannot play. Winners have been as young as five, and as experienced as Mr. Carter who has been playing the football contest as long as he can remember, probably since its inception.
