Wayne Allen Craven
Wayne Allen Craven died Sunday, Nov. 14.
He was employed by the Cobb County School System since 1983 and was currently the Intensive English Language Coordinator and instructor of ESOL endorsement classes to Cobb County educators.
During 2006-2007, Mr. Craven held the position of Title II/ESOL Program Specialist at the Georgia State Department of Education.
He was a graduate of Duke University earning his degree in German Language and Literature. He studied in New York University and earned his M.A. and later an Ed.S. in Foreign Language Education from the University of Georgia.
While at UGA, Mr. Craven was a TA teaching German classes for two years. He taught German at Lassiter, Kennesaw Mountain, and Kell High Schools.
He received several awards recognizing his creativity and excellence as a teacher. He also sponsored many student trips to Germany, participated in National Endowment for the Humanities; seminars and taught German for the Georgia Governer’s Honors program.
Mr. Craven will be deeply missed as he was known for his intelligence, creativity, and inventiveness in practical jokes.
Survivors include his father, Allen Craven and his wife Eileen Ott Craven of Monticello and a host of aunts, uncles, and cousins.
His mother, Oneedus Craven, preceded him in death.
Visitation is scheduled for today, Nov. 18 from 5-8 p.m. at Roswell Funeral Home.
The service is scheduled for Friday, Nov. 19 at 11 a.m. at Roswell Funeral Home, 950 Mansell Road, Roswell; burial will be at North Atlanta Memorial Park following the service.
