Cougar Basketball Begins

Piedmont Academy will begin its new basketball season Tuesday, Nov. 30, at home against Flint River beginning at 6 p.m.

Both the Cougars and Lady Cougars will debut new coaches this season. Josh Daher will direct the Piedmont boys while Wes Tanner will coach the Lady Cougars.

With Daher and Tanner both being involved with the school’s football program, preseason practice time will be somewhat limited. The start of the season has been delayed once but athletic director Danny Camp confirmed the first games would be Tuesday.

Daher is a former standout player at George Walton Academy in Monroe where he helped lead the Bulldogs to two state championships. Tanner worked with Piedmont’s middle school basketball program last season.

Following Tuesday’s games against Flint River, the Piedmont teams will host Nathanael Greene Dec. 3 and John Hancock Dec. 7. Games begin at 6 p.m. each night.
