Arrest Made for Credit Card Fraud
After an investigation of a stolen credit card the Monticello Police Department (MPD) has issued an arrest warrant charging Wonza Hargrove of Monticello with Entering Auto, Financial Transaction Card Theft, Financial Transaction Card Fraud (two counts), Criminal Receipt of Goods and Services (two counts) and Forgery in the First Degree.
The victim, after discovering charges on her card she had not made, reported the card stolen on November 9. A subsequent investigation by the MPD revealed Mr. Hargrove had made charges with the victim’s card at the A-1 Food store and Adams Beauty Supply in Monticello, and also on two occasions at Hip Hop Jewelry in Lithonia.
According to the report, Mr. Hargrove was located by phone and a request for an interview was made. At this time he told the investigating officer he had moved to Atlanta and wouldn’t be back in Monticello for two weeks.
As of this writing Mr. Hargrove remains at large.
Also, during the period of November 23-30 the MPD reported the arrest of Willie Nelson Benjamin, 48, of Monticello and charged him with public drunkenness.
During this same period officers with the MPD responded to 53 calls for service including 10 stopping suspicious person/vehicle, seven subject needs officer, six escort or convoy, three each accident, intoxicated pedestrian and trouble unknown, two each dog disturbance and speeding auto, one each alarm, livestock on road, intoxicated driver, theft by taking, fall, music/noise complaint, shoplifter, vandalism of property, road hazard, argument and abandoned vehicle.
Also during this period, the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) reported the following arrests:

•Tony Keith Dalton, 47, Social Circle—probation violation.
•Charles Reese Swanson, 35, Monticello—hold for warrant in Bibb County.
•Jeremy Shane Smith, 30, Monticello—probation violation.
•James Doyle Hendrix, Jr., 48, Shady Dale—interference with 911 call, obstruction or hindering law enforcement officers.
•Frank Lackey, 53, Monticello—probation violation.
During this same period deputies with the JCSO responded to 121 calls for service including 20 stopping suspicious person/vehicle, 16 alarm, seven each accident and subject needs officer, five each mechanical break down and road hazard, four each domestic and escort or convoy, three each burglary, assist motorist, pickup prisoner, extra patrol and music/noise complaint, two each theft by taking, missing person, welfare check, threatening/harassing calls, argument, persons refuse to leave, and abandoned vehicle, one each dog disturbance, speeding auto, livestock on road, intoxicated driver, intoxicated pedestrian, direct traffic, pregnancy, overdose, discharge firearms, shooting, trouble unknown, trespassing, fraud/theft by deceiving, identity fraud/theft and 911 hang up.
In addition, the Georgia Department of Pardons and Paroles reported the arrest of William Darnell Standifer, 46, of Monticello, charging him with parole violation.
