Commissioners Discuss Budget In Long Meeting

Jasper County Commissioners met in a work session Monday evening for nearly four hours discussing possible budget cuts, but making very little headway.

Chief Financial Officer Lorri Smith reviewed the budget cuts with the commissioners, showing where cuts had been made and where adjustments were made to account for the retirement in each department’s budget.

Different commissioners had suggestions on where to make cuts, but few were agreed upon. The commissioners will again discuss the 2010 budget next Monday.
