Veteran Contest Player Wins With Tiebreaker

DANNY ANDERSON (L), JUSTIN DEARRO

Danny Anderson is a faithful player of The Monticello News football contest, and his entry is frequently the first one to arrive at The Monticello News office. His efforts paid off well this week as he was the winner.

Mr. Anderson correctly guessed the winners of 14 of the 15 games listed last week, and beat out five others with his tiebreaker guess of 42. Piedmont beat Edmund Burke, 26-14. Most others guessed higher. Five of the six missed Maryland’s upset of N.C. State.

For his effort, Mr. Anderson collected a $25 prize from Justin Dearro at Covington Ford in Monticello, last week’s prize sponsor.
In a relatively easy contest week, more than 30 people achieved the honor roll. Entries were down, also, likely because of the Thanksgiving holiday.

This week’s contest will change a little as most of the high school play is over. Several division title games are scheduled for this week, with a good number of pro games. And, there are only two weeks left in this year’s football contest to get a chance at the grand prize honor roll.

This week’s contest is sponsored by Lindsey’s Machine Shop, in memory of Mike Lindsey. Mr. Lindsey enjoyed the football contest, and agreed to be a sponsor this year, although he was sick. Unfortunately Mr. Lindsey died part way through the season. His widow, Suzanne, asked that his space be continued in his memory.
Anyone can play, but only one will win. Come on football fans, sharpen your pencils, pick your winners, guess the tiebreaker scores, and submit!
