He Is the Reason for The Season

Woo hoo! It’s that time of year again!!!

Decorating the house, baking Christmas cookies, buying gifts, and getting ready for company. This is really the happiest time of the year.

At least that’s what Bing Crosby keeps telling me on the radio. I do think that he reminds me to relax a little every time I start stressing about all the things that I’ve got going on this month, and the D.J. seems to know that, so he plays Bing’s music over and over again.

Listen to this, starting at the end of November, we have Mike’s birthday (the young man staying with us) on the 24th, Thanksgiving, Christian’s birthday on December 1st, Jason’s birthday on the 5th, car tags, Mackenzie’s birthday on the 10th, the church Christmas party (at our house), and then Christmas.

Oh my, wow, how do we manage all that in about a 30-day period?
Well, actually, we don’t have a choice. Did I mention that the Christmas party is at our house?

This is the third year that we have the honor to welcome so many wonderful people into our home.

Not only is this the annual Christmas party, but it is also the third anniversary of the Church at Monticello.

For the past three years, we have opened our home to welcome in everyone that we know. There are so many things to be done.
Projects that have taken a backseat to our daily lives are finally being accomplished. It may seem crazy to wait until the ‘happiest’ time of the year to get them done, but we are inspired to have a cozy home when our friends come to visit.

I know that the holidays can be overwhelming. For some it is a time of celebration, and for some it is a time of great sorrow and depression. Either way, it can be completely consuming.

Remember though, no matter how we ‘feel’ about the holidays, it is really a time for us to celebrate the birth of our Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ.

Whatever emotions you have to wade through to survive December, there is a simple truth.

Jesus loves you. God sent him here for you. Whether you want to celebrate or not, He is in love with you and wants a peaceful, joyful, whole life for you.

So calm down, enjoy your family and your salvation. Remember….He is the reason for the season.

Peace and love, Cheryl
