Willie Melvin Sands
Willie Melvin Sands, who was born on December 9, 1951 in Monticello, died Tuesday, Nov. 30, 2010.
Funeral services are planned for Monday, Dec. 6, at 1 p.m. at Ebenezer Baptist Church, 777 Elm Street, Macon. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Macon.
He was born to the late Williemae Sands and the late Albert Sands. Mr. Sands attended Jasper County Comprehensive High School. He moved to Macon, where he lived and worked for over 30 years, and made friends and cared for his children and grandchildren. Mr. Sands joined Ebenezer Baptist church June 2002.
Survivors include his beloved family, a daughter, Kameka Sands Anderson; three grandsons, Michael Sands, Malik Feagin and Steffan Anderson; a brother, Henry Albert Sands, six caring sisters: Marian Johnson, Mary Gordon, Barbara Bell, Florene Sands and Phyllis Farley, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A son, Willie Melvin Sands Jr.; his parents; five siblings, Edwin Lee Sands, Evelyn Wimbush, James Sands, Helen Sands and Edna Pennamon, and one nephew, Cedric Mays, preceded him in death.
Bentley and Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
