Extension Service Gets New Office

Jasper County Extension Director Kasey Reid (front), secretary Janice Arnold, program assistant Patricia Standifer, and agriculture agent Lucy Ray (left to right behind Miss Reid) pose outside their new office to let everyone know where to find them.
The Cooperative Extension Service has been located in the basement of the Monticello Post Office since the 1950s or before. Access was difficult with steep steps being the only way to get there. The Extension service moved this month to the former Planning & Zoning office at 162 North Warren Street.
The P & Z office is now located on the ground floor of the Courthouse. Miss Reid said she’d love to hear from anyone who knows where Extension and 4-H were located before the Post Office home. Also, Miss Ray said Monday she had heard from a constituent who was excited that she could finally come to the Extension office, rather than Miss Ray having to go to her.
