Annie E. Robinson
Annie Edith Robinson, 88, died January 19, 2011.
Mrs. Robinson was born July 4, 1922 in Farrar to Ishom and Jennie Mae Robinson She moved to Monticello at the age of three. She attended the rural schools for five years and spent all of her growing up years in Covington where she finished high school in 1937.
She also attended Apex Beauty School in Atlanta in 1938 and completed her course of study in 1939. She attended Clark College in Atlanta and completed her degree at Fort Valley State College in Fort Valley. She taught school for more than 35 years in Georgia.
In 1954, Mrs. Robinson married Leon Robinson. The two adopted a child, Zena Robinson Mitchell.
Mrs. Robinson was a member of St. John C.M.E. Church and aided the church in making many necessary purchases to adorn the church.
Survivors include her daughter, Zena Robinson Mitchell of Ellenwood, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
A service was held January 26 at St. John C.M.E. Church in Monticello, and Rev. Jimmy Horton officiated. Interment was held in South View Cemetery.
Smith and Sons funeral home was in charge of arrangements.
