J.C. Jackson
Funeral services for J.C. Jackson of Monticello, who died February 9 were held February 13 at Griggs Chapel A.M.E. Church. Revs. Scott Copeland and Robert Slaughter officiated; burial was in Jackson Family Cemetery.
Mr. Jackson was born in Monticello on January 8, 1941, the son of the late Carden and Alice Jackson. He attended Jasper County Training School. Mr. Jackson joined Mt. Carmel Baptist Church at an early age, and later joined Antioch Baptist North Church and remained a member until his death. He was a member of the Antioch Ushers Ministry. Mr. Jackson was employed by DeKalb County schools and retired after 25 years.
Survivors include three daughters, Vida Horne of Macon; Felicia Gail Jackson of Jonesboro, and Belinda Jackson of Atlanta; two grandchildren, Sheree “Nikki” Pounds of Conyers and Quadarious Sherman (Shai) of Atlanta; three great grandchildren, Quindarious Johnson, Damarion Norman and Chad Sherman; a brother, Henry Jackson of Decatur; six sisters, Vera Jackson, Cleo Campbell, Emma Brannon, and Sarah Ridley, all of Monticello, Mary Ann Maddox of Atlanta, Sandra Jackson of Macon, and a number of other relatives.
A brother, Carden Jackson, Jr., preceded him in death.
Smith and Sons Funeral Home was in charge.
