County STARs

Phillips Workman (second from right) was named Jasper County’s Student-Teacher Achievement Recognition (STAR) student at a luncheon last Thursday.

Mr. Workman chose music teacher Chris Savage (right) as his STAR teacher. Pictured with the STARs are Phillips’ parents, Stone and Jean Workman. Mr. Workman and Piedmont Academy’s STAR student Matthew O’Brien and his teacher, Bobbi Sauls, were honored by the Kiwanis Club last week.

The STAR student is determined primarily by the top score on the SAT taken by seniors. Mr. Workman will compete now with students from throughout the district, with that winner moving on to state competition.
