Irene “Sandy” Patten Reynolds

Irene “Sandy” Patten Reynolds, 84, formerly of Jonesboro, died Monday, March 14, 2011, at Christian City Convalescent in Union City.

Mrs. Reynolds was born and raised in Colbert, the daughter of the late Samuel Warren and Zealure Holcomb Patten. She met her late husband, Richard Harry Reynolds, in Warner Robins, married in Colbert, and lived in numerous cities and countries including, Detroit, Mich.; Okinawa; Manila, Philippines; Falls Church, Va.; Tokyo, Japan; Ottawa, Canada; and retired in Jonesboro.

During her life, she was a loving mom, grandma, and wonderful cook. She enjoyed volunteering her time at the Cerebral Palsy Center in Virginia; teaching English in Japan; and serving as president of the Jonesboro Shelnutt Senior Center. Mrs. Reynolds also enjoyed eating at the Varsity in Atlanta with her family.

Along with her husband and parents, Mrs. Reynolds was preceded in death by her siblings, Doyle Patten, Gertrude Bain, and Mildred Pyrczak.

Survivors include her children, Rodney Reynolds of Fayetteville, Janet Sablotsky of Palmetto Bay, Fla., and Gary Reynolds of Lanham, Md.; grandchildren, Tracy Williams, Cheryl Reynolds, Greg Reynolds, Jennifer Brownel, and Jaclyn Sablotsky; great-grandchildren, Cody Reynolds, Christopher Williams, Emily Williams, and Lily Rose Reynolds; and nieces and nephews, Clyde Bain, Fred Pyrczak, Suzanne Pyrczak, and Joyce Smith.

Funeral services were to be held Wednesday, March 16, at 1 p.m. at the Chapel of Jordan Funeral Home, with Dr. John Brown officiating. Burial was in West View Cemetery. Dr. John Brown officiated.
Jordan Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
