‘Diamond Canes Lose Two

The ‘Canes dropped a game to non-region rival and class AAA Jackson 15-2 last Friday, March 11, at home.

Kevin Camp was on the mound and took the loss, however nine of their runs came after two outs, after a costly error and a few costly walks.

The team didn’t fare much better last Tuesday, March 8, when they traveled to Morgan County and lost their first region game 13-2, with Brady McMichael taking the loss.

After a 2-5 start to the season, Athletic Director and Head Baseball Coach Chris Jenkins said, “Jackson hit the ball real well and blew the game open late. We had our chances early and just couldn’t get the big hit. We’re going to work on bull pen sessions with our pitchers. They’ve not had the kind of consistency we need to be successful.”

The game scheduled this past Tuesday at Pike was postponed due to weather. The team is scheduled for a rubber game at Jackson today, March 17, at 5:30 p.m.

They are also scheduled to play host to Northeast Macon, tomorrow, March 18, at 5 p.m., and to travel to Northeast Macon next Tuesday, March 21.
