Nickey Frank Lane

Nickey “Mickey” Lane of East Point died March 19.

Funeral services were held Saturday, March 26, at St. James A.M.E. Church in Monticello. Pastor Donna Marie Calix officiated; burial was in Oak Lawn Cemetery in Hillsboro.

Pallbearers were Darcus Lane, Kedric Lane, Kendall Lane, Eric Lynwood, Timothy Lynwood, and W.C. Lynwood.

Mr. Lane was born June 11, 1967, the son of the late Shirley Lane and James Young. They, and his stepfather, Willie McGuire, all preceded him in death.

As a young boy, Mr. Lane worshipped with his familiy at White Chapel C.M.E. Church in Hillsboro, and during his adult life he made a decision to accept Jesus as his Lord and Savior. He graduated from Jasper County High School in 1987. He had a passion for football, art and jazz music. He later moved to Atlanta where he worked as a heavy equipment operator.

Survivors include his son and daughter, Cortez Jones and Micquaey Blackwell of Atlanta; three brothers, Dexter Lane of Marietta, James McGuire of Sparta, and Jessie Clark of Monticello; two stepbrothers, David McGuire and Willie McGuire, III, both of Monticello; two stepsisters, Mary Vinson and Cierra McGuire, also both of Monticello; and a number of other relatives.

Smith and Sons Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
