Diamond Cougars To Play Today

Piedmont Academy’s varsity baseball team is anxious to get back to work.

The Diamond Cougars were rained out last Thursday in their attempt to play Briarwood. The team had the first part of last week off as well so several days will have elapsed since Piedmont has competed when it returns to action today, April 7, against the Warner Robins Patriots in a game played at 4 p.m. in Macon.

The school is on spring break this week. The players returned to practice Wednesday in preparation for today’s game. The Cougars are also scheduled to play against John Hancock and Trinity Saturday in Sparta in games at 10 a.m. and noon.

“We’ll be back on our normal schedule next week,” coach Danny Camp said. “We hated that we couldn’t play last Thursday. Our field normally can tolerate a good bit of rain, but it was simply too much to get the game in.”

Piedmont will also hold a practice session Friday to get ready for Saturday’s twinbill.
