Piedmont Golfers Finish Sixth at Region

The Piedmont Academy golf team did not have its best outing of the season and, as a result, finished sixth at the recent Region 1-AA meet.

Blake Hammock was the low medalist for the Cougars with a round of 87.

“Blake was consistent for us all year,” said coach Ryan Berg. “Overall though, we probably peaked early in the season. We did haven’t have our best scores at region.”

Gatewood was the region winner followed by Monsignor Donovan, Brentwood and Briarwood. Berg said Gatewood has a chance to contend for the state title.

“It would have taken a great effort for us to make it to state,” Berg said. “We just didn’t have our best day.”
