Mr. Jordan’s presentation, entitled “From Germantown to Kabul: A Jasper County Family’s Military Stories,” will begin at 1 p.m. There is no charge for the program.
Seven generations of Mr. Jordan’s family have called Jasper County home, and several of his ancestors have served in America’s armed conflicts: the Revolutionary War, Creek War, Civil War, World War I, World War II, and Afghanistan. His presentation will use his family’s military history as a case study to explain research in military records, as well as provide some local and national history.
Accompanying the presentation in the Chamber of Commerce lobby will be an exhibition of original artifacts detailing certain aspects of Jasper County’s military-related history.
There will be a brief tour of the exhibition after the presentation.
The purpose of the Historical Foundation is to preserve and promote knowledge and understanding of the history of Jasper County. Everyone is invited to participate on May 7 and learn something of the foundation’s efforts.
