Woman Steals Vehicle After Release from Jail

As reported in The News on March 31, Nicole E. Kraus abandoned a stolen vehicle, which had run out of gas, at the Dairy Queen on March 29, and immediately stole another vehicle at the Dairy Queen.

She was arrested by officers of the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) on Hwy 212 west shortly thereafter and jailed.

On Tuesday, May 3, in Superior Court, Ms. Kraus pled guilty to theft by taking and was sentenced to five years probation and fines and fees of $1,382, and was released from the jail.

It was confirmed by video some time later Tuesday that Ms. Kraus, upon being released, stole a vehicle belonging to an employee of the JCSO from the parking lot beside the jail, and made her get-a-way. The 2003 Ford F-150 was found abandoned on U.S. 231 in Florida where it had been wrecked and was apparently a total loss. Bay County deputies later arrested Ms. Kraus.
