Two Are Busted for Marijuana

Scotie Johnson, 38, and Elizabeth Johnson, 29, were arrested this week and charged with manufacture of marijuana and possession of marijuana.

On May 10, deputies from the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office went to 340 Bob Cat Trail on a tip of alleged drug activity at this residence.

Following a search of the residence, an unspecified amount of marijuana was recovered along with other evidence of violation of the Georgia Controlled Substance Act which included articles needed to manufacture marijuana, according to an announcement from the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO).

The Johnsons are currently in the Jasper County Detention Center awaiting a first appearance hearing.

Also at the Jasper County Jail is Nicole Elizabeth Kraus, 27, of Panama City, Fla. who is charged with theft by taking and probation violation. Ms. Kraus is charged with stealing a truck from the parking lot of the Jasper County Jail last week. The truck and Ms. Kraus were located in Bay County, Fla. She was extradited to Jasper County.

During the period of April 30 through May 9, the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) reported the following criminal activity:

•On May 9 a resident on South Blackwell Road reported a burglary in which a TV, a Ryobi weedeater and a McCullough chainsaw were reported stolen.

•On May 7 it was reported an auto was entered on Hwy. 142 in Shady Dale, where microphones, a guitar amplifier head, a Boss distortion effects pedal, and acoustic guitar pick-up, two wireless transmitters, a cordless headset microphone, a video camera, a guitar strap, patch cords, a power strip, a harmonica set, a harmonica headset, a song book and nylon bags were all reported stolen.

•On May 6 Shiloh Baptist Church reported a burglary in which an unspecified amount of currency was taken.

•On May 6 a resident on Dykes Road in North Jasper County reported a theft by taking in which a Ford 150 pickup was reported stolen.

•On April 30 a resident on Fullerton Phillips Road in Hillsboro reported a theft by taking in which a red 15 pound air compressor was taken.

For the period of May 3-10 the JCSO also reported the following arrests:

•Shannon Lee Lane, 41, Milstead—probation violation.

•Robert Edward Lankier, 47, Conyers—driving while licence suspended or revoked, windshield violation and probation violation.

•Dale Kevin Davis, 50, Fayetteville—possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

•Timothy Craig, Byrd, 43, Monticello—hold for warrant in Newton County.

•Anthony Scott Blackmon, 28, Monticello—false imprisonment, cruelty to children and battery.

•Suzanna Elizabeth Locklear, 37, Monticello—Jasper County Superior Court failure to appear bench warrant.

•Antonio Dewayne Dumas, 30, Monticello—probation violation, obstruction or hindering law enforcement officers, and failure to appear.

•Jason Jewitt Averette, 27, Mansfield—brake light violation and Jasper County Superior Court failure to appear bench warrant.

•Michael Joshua Tumlin, 22, Covington—Jasper County Superior Court failure to appear bench warrant.

During this same period deputies with the JCSO responded to 130 calls for service including 23 stopping suspicious person/vehicle, 15 subject needs officer, 12 alarm, seven argument, five accident, four pick up prisoner, three each escort or convoy, welfare check, mechanical break down, four wheeler, juvenile complaint and discharging firearm, two each burglary, courtesy ride, livestock on road, intoxicated driver, direct traffic, theft by taking, wanted/stolen, possible suicide, trouble unknown, music/noise complaint, threatening/harassing calls, checking location, abandoned vehicle, sick, 911 hang up, one each dog disturbance, domestic, assist motorist, speeding auto, special detail, improperly parked vehicles, be on the lookout, extra patrol, request additional unit, entering auto, property found, road hazard, VGCSA, attempt to serve warrant and fraud/theft by deceiving.

The Monticello Police Department (MPD) reported a burglary on May 9 on Blue Ruin Street, where a resident reported the theft of Samsung window air conditioning unit. Anyone with information concerning this burglary are encouraged to call the MPD at 706-468-6404.
Also, during the period of May 3-10 the MPD reported the following arrests:

•Artisha Chartal Parker, 20, Jackson—failure to appear.

•Gary Andre Thurman, 40, Monticello—probation violation and pedestrian under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

•Terrance Antonia Bostic, 24, Monticello—theft by taking and probation.

During this same period officers with the MPD responded to 55 calls for service including 16 stopping suspicious person/vehicle, six subject needs officer, four trouble unknown, three alarm, two each assist motorist, intoxicated driver, escort or convoy, theft by taking, crowd disbursement, checking location and sick, one each fight, prowler report, mechanical break down, miscellaneous EMS, assist invalid, discharge firearms, private property, music/noise complaint, threatening/harassing calls, vandalism of property, seizure and argument.
