TREE DOWNS POWER LINES

A tree on Martin Luther King Jr. Drive in Monticello fell across a power line during a storm last Thursday in the early afternoon hours. The fallen tree and power lines blocked both MLK Drive and Sands Drive which remained blocked for about four hours. It also knocked out electricity to 75-100 households in the area, according to city officials. A live wire complicated things for a time. City Manager Bob Schwartz said the city has money in next year’s budget for tree trimming so perhaps incidents like these will be less likely. The storm was one of several last week in the county.
