Ruth Johnson Wright

Funeral services for Ruth Johnson Wright, of Butler, will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 2 at 3 p.m. at the Butler United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in Butler Memorial Cemetery.

Mrs. Wright was born on July 17, 1923 and died on July 31, 2011. She had just celebrated her 88th birthday. She was a native of Jasper County and had lived in Taylor County most of her life. Mrs. Wright had attended Berry College and Georgia Southwestern College. She was a member of the Butler United Methodist Church, the Eastern Star and was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Nathan Kelsey Johnson and Alva Allen Johnson and her husband, Charles James Wright. Mrs. Wright was the youngest of eight children, all of whom preceded her in death.

Survivors include two daughters, Linda Wright Smith (Mike) of Butler and Charlene Wright Jackson (Mike) of Montezuma; son, Charles T. “Chuck” Wright (Rose) of Murfreesboro Tenn.; grandchildren, Dana Taunton (Troy) of Shiloh, David Davis (Kris) of Macon, Michael Jackson (Amy) of Statesboro, Lauren Jackson of Statesboro, Leslee Young (Tim) of Holt, Fla., Charles J. “Jake” Wright, II of Freeport, Fla., and Susannah Wright of Freeport, Fla.; great-grandchildren, Chase, Cason and Cierra Taunton of Shiloh, Lucas and Ayden Davis of Macon, Emory and Ella Claire Jackson of Statesboro, Henry and Tadhg Young of Holt, Fla.; numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive family and friends at the residence beginning Monday at 1 p.m. The body will lie in state at the Butler United Methodist Church one hour prior to the service.
