Piedmont Cross Country Makes Debut
Piedmont Academy competed in its first cross country meet Saturday in an event hosted by Loganville Christian.
Lynne Marie Edwards led the varsity Lady Cougars with a time of 29:00 for the 3.1-mile course. Lanie King finished in 34.22 followed by Emmie Kelly in 34:36. Savannah McGinnis turned in a time of 35:17.
For the varsity boys, Samuel McGinnis was the first runner to finish the course in 27:50. Andrew Mitchell had a time of 31:37.
For the junior varsity, Mack Brady won his race in 12:54. Junior varsity runners ran 1.9 miles.
Chase Tweedell completed the course in 15:59 followed by Alina Jablonski (17:57) and Anne Marie Hildebrant (19:29.) Blakely Arp had a time of 23:43 and Ivy English also competed for the JV Lady Cougars.
“I was very proud of how everyone competed,” said coach Traci Brady. “We will continue to build on improving our times and endurance. Overall, I was very happy with our performance in the first meet. It was a learning experience for me as a coach and for the team.”
Piedmont will next compete at Wesleyan College this Saturday, Aug. 27, beginning at 10 a.m.
