Governor Speaks on Beef

Governor Nathan Deal was the guest speaker at the recent Piedmont Cattlemen’s meeting which was held at the FFA/FCLA Camp in Covington. More than 300 attendees enjoyed a steak dinner and listened to the governor speak about the future of animal agriculture in Georgia.
Gov. Deal encouraged members to educate the public about the safe, wholesome product that the American Beef producer provides. He also spoke to the attending members of the youth livestock show teams from multiple counties and encouraged them in their projects.
Gov. Deal was active in both 4-H and FFA and said that he “can’t think of anything more important than what you learn when you show livestock.” He reiterated to the youth especially that the qualities that make you a successful livestock showman are “qualities make you successful no matter what you do in life.”
The next Piedmont Cattlemen’s meeting will be held next Thursday, Sept. 8, at the FFA/FCLA camp and will include both a silent and live benefit auction. All proceeds will go towards youth livestock programs and educational scholarships in Jasper, Newton, and Butts Counties.
