Motorcyclist Is Arrested for Possession of Meth

After a motorcycle was stopped on Hwy 212 west late last week by a deputy with the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) and a ranger with the Department of Natural Resources (DNR), Troy Lee Dowdy, Jr., was charged with possession of methamphetamine and driving while license suspended.

After the officers stopped the motorcycle, they asked permission to search it, according to the report included with the arrest warrant.

The officers found a digital scale, an orange container holding a clear bag of methamphetamine and a glass smoking device with residue in the left saddle bag on the bike.

Also, during the period of August 28 to September 6, the following incidents of criminal activity were reported by the JCSO:

•On September 6 a resident on Turner Road in Hillsboro, reported the theft of unspecified items.

•On September 5 a resident on Jordan Road in east Jasper County reported the theft of a cast iron cooking pot.

•On September 4 an individual reported the theft of a Chevrolet Monte Carlo from an address on Greer Road in Hillsboro.

•On September 3 a resident on Ross Road in North Jasper County reported a burglary in process and an arrest was made in which Daniel Rolden-Lopez was charged with burglary and obstruction of officers.

•On August 31 a resident on Bobolink Drive in Turtle Cove reported the theft of an air conditioning unit and copper wire from the unit to the house.

•On August 30 a resident on Perimeter Road reported the theft of assorted pieces of jewelry.

In addition, during the period of August 30 to September 6 the JCSO reported the following arrests:

•Kenneth Oneal Waller, Jr., 21, Monticello—carrying a concealed

weapon.

•David Allan Hicks, 29, Monticello—criminal trespass.

•Telly Fedinandro Banks, 36, Lithonia—identity theft fraud and forgery in the first degree.

•Matt Wallace Seferovich, 45, Auburn, WA—probation violation and Jasper County Superior Court bench warrant (2 counts).

•Clinton Lyndale Parham, 27, Eatonton—hold for warrant in Rockdale County.

•Donald Edward Parson, 61, Mansfield—disorderly conduct.

•Daniel Roldan Lopez, 24, Monticello—burglary and obstruction or hindering law enforcement officer.

•Jonathan Lynn Maroney, 31, Covington—aggravated assault.

•Misty Ann Durden, 32, Flovilla—obstruction or hindering law enforcement officers.

•Michael Webster Tatum, 27, Monticello—disorderly conduct.

•Travis Ray Wilson, 25, Monticello—disorderly conduct.

During this same period deputies with the JCSO responded to 156 calls for service including 36 stopping suspicious person/vehicle, 17 alarm, 11 mechanical breakdown, 10 subject needs officer, seven accident, five each burglary and domestic, four each assist motorist, escort or convoy, trouble unknown, vandalism of property and argument, three each livestock on road, theft by taking, and threatening/harassing calls, two each fire/structure, pick up prisoner, fall, welfare check private property, music/noise complaint, road hazard, abandoned vehicle and attempt to serve warrant, one each fight, speeding auto, courtesy ride, chase in progress, special detail, mental person, wanted/stolen indicated, laceration, hypertension, child abuse/molestation, four wheeler, child custody, discharge firearms, entering auto, property found, VGCSA and weather announcement.

Also during this period the Monticello Police (MPD) reported the following arrests:

•Marcus Mandrell Campbell, 30, Monticello—obstruction or hindering law enforcement officers/felony (2 counts), simple battery (2 counts), giving false name or address to law enforcement officers (2 counts), obstruction or hindering law enforcement officers (2 counts).

•Wanda Louise Durden, 49, Monticello—driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, seat belt violation and failure to maintain lane.

•Hollis Williams, 62, Monticello—disorderly conduct and probation violation.

During this same period officers with the MPD responded to 73 calls for service including 14 stopping suspicious person/vehicle, 11 escort or convoy, six domestic, three each road hazard and accident, two each speeding auto, subject needs officer, juvenile complaint, private property, trouble unknown, music/noise complaint, threatening/harassing calls, vandalism of property, and checking location, one each alarm, burglary, assist motorist, theft by taking, wanted/stolen indicated, assault, welfare check, possible suicide, gas drive-off, VGCSA and fraud/theft by deceiving.

Also during this period the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) reported the arrest of Willie Moses Harrel, 49, of Conyers, and charged him with operating a vessel (boat) under the influence of alcohol or drugs and failure to obey markers. Mr. Harrel’s arrest was the only lake-related crime reported during the long Labor Day holiday.
