Revocations Result in Jail Time

Mark David Ray had his probation revoked when he appeared in Jasper Superior Court Tuesday, with Judge John Lee Parrott, presiding.

Mr. Ray was on probation for a conviction on the charge of burglary in June of 2008. The court found sufficient evidence them he was guilty of the new charges of burglary and open container. It was the order of the court that the balance of Mr. Ray’s probated sentence be served in the state penal system with an end date of June 9, 2013.

Three other probation revocation cases were processed with details and the results as follows:

•Steven Ross, who was on probation for a conviction of burglary in February, 2009, was found guilty of the new charges of failure to report and failure to pay court ordered fines and fees as directed. He was sentenced to serve six months in the county jail with credit for time served since September 12, 2011.

•Laura Ramey, who was on probation for the conviction of the charge of attempting to obtain dangerous drugs by fraud in March, 2010, was found guilty of the new charges of failure to report and failure to pay court ordered fines and fees. She was sentenced to serve 45 days in the county jail with credit for time served since September 11, 2011.

•Darron Greer, who was on probation for a conviction of the charge of theft by taking in May of 2011, was found guilty of the charges of failing to report and failure to pay court ordered fines and fees. He was sentenced to serve 60 days in the county jail with credit for time served since August 22, 2011.

Six other probation revocation cases on the calendar were continued.

In Magistrate Court on September 16, Marcus M. Campbell had a bond revocation hearing. After hearing evidence that Mr. Campbell had violated the conditions of his bond on the charges of battery and simple battery, Judge Kenneth G. Jackson, presiding, revoked that bond and returned him to the Jasper County Jail were he will remain until he is prosecuted on those charges by the district attorney.

The violations of the bond included not staying away from the victim and not abstaining from the use of alcohol.

Also, five individuals pled guilty to charges as indicated below and were sentenced as shown:

•Rachel Spell to disorderly conduct—sentenced to 12 months probation, 30 hours community service and fined $210.

•Terry Shane Parham to disorderly conduct—sentenced to 12 months probation, 40 hours community service and fined $210.

•Jerry Russell Caldwell to disorderly conduct—sentenced to 12 months probation, 30 hours community service and fined $210.

•Shaquille Torrez Wright to disorderly conduct—sentenced to 12 months probation, 45 hours community service, to attend anger management class and fined $210.

•Corey Timmons to animal running at large and failure to inoculate—sentenced to 12 months probation, 30 hours community service, to surrender animal and fined $210.

•Ivan Bailey pled not guilty to criminal trespass, and William Stanley Thompson pled not guilty to neglect of animals. Both were scheduled for a non-jury trial tomorrow, Sept. 30.

Don Parson failed to appear to answer the charge of disorderly conduct and a bench warrant was issued for his arrest.
