Storage Units Are Burglarized

Nine different storage units were burglarized on Monday, October 10, according to information received from the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO).

The storage facility which was hit is located on Jackson Lake Road adjacent to the fire station, and according to the JCSO is not equipped with an alarm or surveillance system. Also, an accounting of the items taken was not available, and the case is under investigation.

The JCSO also reported a residence on Herring Gull Court in Alcovy Shores was burglarized on the same date, with no details of any stolen items.

A third burglary was reported last Friday, October 7, by the owner of a private storage shed on Pitts Chapel Road in Newborn, who reported a Remington semi-automatic rifle and a single-shot .22 rifle were stolen.

In addition, during the period of October 4 through 11, the JCSO reported the following arrests:

•Bryan Keith Mason, 25, Monticello—possession of marijuana less than one ounce and safety belt violation.

•Adam Lawrence Baker, 33, Newborn—probation violation.

•Rachel Michele Martin, 35, Shady Dale—criminal damage to property in the second degree and battery.

•Antoinette Roxanne Murray, 27, Atlanta—Jasper County Superior Court bench warrant.

•Charles Bradley Goen, 41, Griffin—disorderly conduct and probation violation.

•Bobbie Carol Elkins, 64, Monticello—obstruction or hindering law enforcement officers and interference with government property.

•Dana Catherine Henderson, 39, Conyers—duty of driver to stop at or return to scene of an accident and failure to maintain lane.

•Johnny Gordon Henderson, 52, Conyers—disorderly conduct and obstruction or hindering a law enforcement officer.

•David Allen Nash, Jr., 23, Griffin—theft by taking.

During this same period deputies with the JCSO responded to 119 calls for service including 20 stopping suspicious person/vehicle, 16 accidents, 10 subject needs officer, nine alarm, six mechanical breakdown, four each dog disturbance, domestic, assist motorist, trouble unknown and argument, three each burglary, theft by taking and welfare check.

Also, two each prowler report, courtesy ride, livestock on road, pick up prisoner, four wheeler, juvenile complaint, music/noise complaint and 911 hang up, one each fight, intoxicated driver, escort or convoy, fall, rape, repossession of vehicle, indecent exposure, vandalism of property, road hazard, trespassing abandoned vehicle, sick and transport patient.

Also during this period, the Monticello Police Department (MPD) reported the following arrests:

•Johntavious Quantez Gai-ther, 19, Monticello—robbery.

•Shirley Wise Benton, 52, Monticello—public drunkenness.

During this same period officers with the MPD responded to 80 calls for service including 26 stopping suspicious person/vehicle, 17 escort or convoy, six alarm, three each domestic and threatening/harassing calls, two each fight subject needs officer and argument.

Also, one each assist motorist, accident, intoxicated driver, intoxicated pedestrian, direct traffic, mechanical break down, fire/vehicle, theft by taking, crowd disbursement, extra patrol, welfare check, counterfeit, trouble unknown, music/noise complaint, lost property, sick and 911 hang up.
